At South Norwood Primary School, an academy in the heart of South London, we are dedicated to nurturing the wellbeing of our entire school community – our pupils, parents, and staff. As a school that values the “Challenge, Nurture, Succeed” philosophy outlined in our vision, we are committed to providing a caring and supportive environment where everyone can thrive.
We understand that the emotional and mental health of our pupils is foundational to their academic success and overall development. That’s why we have partnered with Place2Be, a leading children’s mental health charity, to offer a range of wellbeing services and support for our pupils.
Our on-site Place2Be counsellor, Janay, works closely with our pupils, providing a safe space for them to explore their thoughts and feelings. Through individual and group sessions, Janay and her team helps our children develop coping strategies, build resilience, and navigate the challenges they may face both in and out of the classroom.
We recognise that a child’s wellbeing is deeply connected to the wellbeing of their family. That’s why we have a dedicated family worker who serves as a bridge between home and school, offering guidance and resources to our parents and caregivers.
Whether it’s providing advice on managing stress, connecting families to local support services, or simply lending a compassionate ear, our family worker is committed to empowering parents and strengthening the home-school partnership.
At South Norwood Primary School, we understand that the wellbeing of our staff is just as crucial as that of our pupils. We strive to create a work environment that prioritises self-care, work-life balance, and professional development.
Through regular check-ins, team-building activities, and access to confidential counselling services, we aim to support our staff in maintaining their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. By investing in the wellbeing of our teachers and support staff, we ensure that they are equipped to provide the best possible educational experience for our pupils.
At the heart of South Norwood Primary School’s mission is a deep commitment to the wellbeing of our entire school community. By fostering a culture of care, empathy, and support, we empower our pupils, parents, and staff to overcome challenges, nurture their potential, and ultimately, succeed in their personal and academic journeys.
